London has a love of fire alarms and drills.
But, honestly, who can blame them? I suppose if you had a history of fires like theirs, you couldn't be too careful. The 1666 fire took out 7 out of 8 homes in the city.
I have been evacuated from at least three different buildings since arriving less than a month ago. In fact, Frances Gardner had 4 alarms go off in one day. From people making toast. Lots and lots of toast. Toast really is the dark side:
