Staci and Iona Visit!

Two weekends ago, I was honored to have two good friends come visit London. Staci and I went to UNC together, and after it was over, took on the adventure of moving to the Picardie region of France to teach English for a year. There, we met many good friends who also were serving as language assistants in nearby towns. One of them was Iona, who is Welsh and is today living in Aberystwyth, Wales. My favorite quote from that year is as follows (and it is tough to choose!):

Iona: "My English has got better since I've been in France."
Willie (from Kentucky): "My French is worse."
Matt (also from Kentucky): "I've developed a stutter...."

Let's just say, it was a FUN year.
And the weekend they came to visit lived up to that year. We watched rugby (the Six Nations tournament is on over here at the moment) while Iona, being a huge rugby fanatic, answered all of our lingering questions about the sport. And on a side note, I adore the pub culture over here. It is always appropriate to pop into a pub for a pint or two, morning, noon, or night (and even on... gasp... Sundays!). Especially if there is a sporting event on television.

We also decided to try out the newest rage over here: fish pedicures. Essentially, you are sitting in the middle of the mall with your feet in a tank of water while miniature fish eat away the dead skin on your feet. It was pretty cool to try it out, but I've never noticed how much of a kick reflex I have until then. And yes, it tickles. Like crazy.

I absolutely loved having Staci and Iona around again- it was like no time had passed for us (though France was almost 4 years ago!). Here are some of my favorite pictures from the weekend:
